As countries develop, more people start using electricity weather in form of light or phone or many of the thousands of other devices powered by generated electricity. But of course such an important thing like electricity wouldn’t come at no expense. It is a long, hard process to make it and one of the most popular ways is fossil fuels. Fossil fuel is a type of  non renewable energy that 90% of the world uses. It is made by burning fuels like coal, oil or gas too generate steam that helps run turbines that produce electricity. They help generate electricity over a long period of time and help produce electricity reliably and effectively for cheaper. But the worst part about fossil fuel energy is that its non renewable and it eventually run out. And it will run out pretty soon. That means we will have to replace fossil fuels with another source of energy. Even though it will take time, it is vital to do or it might result in the world just running out of electricity. At that point it will be very hard for us to use another form of generation and hence it is important to do it as soon as possible. What is the problem with non renewable energy?Burning fossil fuels produce a large amount of carbon dioxide that gets trapped in the earth’s atmosphere and leads to climate change typically overheating. Very long periods of time this overheating continues to spread eventually reaching the glaciers. This causes the glaciers to melt and results in global warming. If the global warming continues, soon the sea levels will start increasing causing the world too slowly sink. This has even started to increase the amount of natural disasters, tsunami and hurricanes in particular.Even though this will happen gradually, it will affect the world. Fossil fuel plants require a large amount of oil or coal. Sometimes, there is a drastic shortage of fossil fuels and the price shoot up which eventually lead to economic and resource loss. Apart from these two major problems, there are still many others. Some including production of sulphur oxide which often leads to acid rain.Just by producing electricity, we have put the earth’s future into danger, hence scientists over the years have come up with many other sources of electrical generators.What could be another form or a electrical generator?Solar power is a popular, easier,safer method for the environment. The sun is the main source of energy. In simple terms, solar energy is the radiation of the sun that reaches the earth.It is radiant light and heat that is absorbed into a photovoltaic device. A photovoltaics turns solar energy directly into electricity. This is an improvement as previous process (steam generators) took longer. The steam generator process is also fairly simple and healthy for the environment. It is when thermal collectors heat a moving fluid hence resulting in energy. In 1954, scientists discovered that silicon created an electrical charge when exposed to a large sum of sunlight. They soon started using it as a chip in a satellite. When the discovered how effective this was, they soon started using it as a power source to generate electricity.How do solar panels produce solar energy?Photovoltaic cells convert sunlight into direct current electricity. The inverter converts that into alternating current electricity. The electrical panel sends power to your lights and appliances.The utility meter measures the amount of electricity you use up and  helps feed the same amount back into the panel. A photovoltaic cell essentially starts of as a thin layer of a semiconductor of silicon which is covered in glass or plastic. It allows an electric current to pass through it. When photons (light particles) are radiated toward the solar cell, they loosen the electrons inside the semiconductor. This leaves a space that soon gets filled by the the cell beside it, and the chain continues so on. This creates a chain of electrons which lead into an electric current.What is bad about solar energy?Expensive and not very efficient:Too start of with, solar panels are very expensive and can’t be afforded by all. Too top this of, only 20% of the energy is actually efficient and useful.Owners will also have too store up energy for the night and winter which is very expensive and time taking. Takes up to much space and Intermittent:To power an entire house, you would have to cover the entire roof with solar panels.  The sun isn’t always shining. In places like scandinavia, it is usually very cloudy and hardly any light will be able to be used as there is not much sun. The manufacturing process is known to leave traces of sulphur hexafluoride and nitrogen trifluoride. Though only very little (almost nothing compared to fossil fuels) greenhouse gases are produced, the effect of sulphur hexafluoride and nitrogen trifluoride is a hundred times worse than carbon dioxide.What is good about solar energy?  Renewable and abundantThe best part about solar energy is that it is renewable. We can never run out of solar energy so we don’t have too really worry about using to much of it. The surface of earth receives more than 100,000 terawatts of solar radiation which is 20,000 times more energy we need to power the entire population. Taking into consideration that only 85.3% of our population have access to electricity, that enough to support our future population.Environmentally friendlySolar energy doesn’t produce much pollution. It produces slight traces of greenhouse gases in the process of manufacturing but it’s almost nothing compares to how much pollution fossil fuels produce.Its available everywhere and anywhereThe sun is accessible everywhere. Places do no not  require space or anything certain in particular as the sun is available everywhere.
