Parks assistance; individualattention; and to an extent, their

Parks and green spaces are one aspect of urban environment that is of great importance indaily life of individual who live in urban areas (Sania .T & Faria S, 2013).Besides thereenvironmental benefits through their effects on negating urban heat, offsetting greenhousegas emissions and attenuating storm water (Anna C, 2003), if designed to be inclusive parksand urban green spaces have a capacity to bring people together, engaging individuals fromdifferent social grouping that may not normally interact (Lee A, Jordan HC and Horsley J,2015). Green spaces offers possibilities for increasing social activity, improving communitycohesion and developing local attachment especially for certain groups who are particularlyvulnerable to social exclusion: like people with disabilities (Benefits of green infrastructure). But for a variety of reasons, users with disabilities often receive limited benefits from thisaspect of the urban environment. They are part of human society but Because of their specialneeds and adaptations necessary for their respective disabilities (Klaus S & Simone N,2006); they participate in the green spaces to a limited extent.Klaus further elaborates, the main reason why people with disabilities failed to be includedin such environments is because of different barriers they encountered when accessing thespaces. standardized and adheres to uniform norms and viewpoints of the modern society2towards building low cost public infrastructures is believed to be the cause of the differentbarriers (Klaus S & Simone N, 2006). People with disabilities often cannot adjust to thesenorms. Such standards are not appropriate for them; they require assistance; individualattention; and to an extent, their own infrastructure (Bizzarri, 2000 & Recktor, 2003)Also in broader concept disability right advocators refer disability as a reflection of theinteraction between a person with impairment and the environment he or she lives in (LarsG. 2007). Thus having adequate green space, outdoor amenities, and related services forthese populations depends upon understanding the needs of their respective disabilities withrespect to the interaction with the environment (Pacione, 2003)
