RULES OF DEBATE

1.
There are two teams, each consisting of two or three speakers.

2.
Each team has two or three constructive speeches, and two to three rebuttal
speeches. The affirmative gives the first constructive speech, and the rebuttals
alternate: negative, affirmative, negative, affirmative. The affirmative has
both the first and last speeches of the debate.

3.
The affirmative has the right to make any reasonable definition of each of the
terms of the proposition. If the negative challenges the reasonableness of a
definition by the affirmative, the judge must accept the definition of the team
that shows better grounds for its interpretation of the term.

4.
The affirmative must advocate everything required by the topic itself. No revision
of position of a team is permitted during the debate.

5.
He who asserts must prove. In order to establish an assertion, the team must
support it with enough evidence and logic to convince an intelligent .Acts must
be accurate. Visual materials are permissible, and once introduced, they become
available for the opponents’ use if desired.

6.
In the questioning period, the questioner may ask any fair, clear question that
has a direct bearing on the debate. The questioner may use the period to build
up any part of his own case, to tear down any part of his opposition’s case, or
to ascertain facts, the questioner must confine himself to questions and not
make statements, comments, or ask rhetorical questions.

7.
Each speaker is questioned as soon as he concludes his constructive speech. The
witness must answer the questions without consulting his colleagues.

8.
No new constructive arguments may be introduced in the rebuttal period. The
affirmative must, if possible, reply to the major negative arguments before the
last rebuttal.

9.
The judge must base his decision entirely on the material presented, without
regard for other material which he may happen to possess.

10.
Any gains made outside of the established procedure are disallowed.

ABORTION

Abortion
is the ending of pregnancy by removing a foetus or embryo before it can survive
outside the uterus. An abortion which occurs spontaneously is also known as a
miscarriage. Abortion was supposed to empower women, free them from
the rigours of childbearing and the drudgery of housework, and enable them to
achieve an equal place with men in the workforce. Several decades later many
women are wondering when this freedom, empowerment and equality is going to
have a positive impact on their lives. Women appear to be the losers when it
comes to abortion.

Against the topic:-

Since
life begins at conception, abortion is taken to be murder as it is the act of
taking human life. The concept of personhood is different from the concept of
human life however in the case of rape or incest, forcing a woman made pregnant
by this violent act would cause further psychological harm to the victim. Often
a woman is too afraid to speak up or is unaware she is pregnant, thus the
morning after pill is ineffective in these situations. Teenagers who become pregnant
they are much more likely to leave of school; receive inadequate prenatal care;
rely on public assistance to raise a child; develop health problems; or end up
divorced. Those who choose abortions are often minors or young women with
insufficient life experience to understand fully what they are doing. Many have
lifelong regrets afterwards. Abortion frequently causes intense psychological
pain and stress to.

CONCLUSION: –
Therefore abortion is murder life begins at conceptions so unborn babies are
human being with a right to life. Foetuses feel pain during the abortions procedures,
abortions is the killing of human being which defies the word of god. Abortion
cause psychological damage. Abortions reduce the number of adoptable babies,
selective abortion based on genetic abnormalities is overt discrimination, and
women should not be able to use abortions as a form of contraception. If women
become pregnant they should accept the responsibility that comes with producing
a child. The original text of the Hippocratic Oath traditionally taken by the
doctors when swearing to practice medicine ethically forbids abortion.
Abortions promotes a culture in which human’s life is disposable. Allowing
abortions conflicts with the unalienable right to life recognising my founding
fathers of the United States. Therefore abortion is considered to be a sin and
it totally inhuman and must be stopped.

For the topic:-

Every
child born should come into the world wanted, loved, and cared for. Planned
children often have better life prospects because caregivers are better
prepared to support the child physically, emotionally, and financially. A
woman’s body belongs to herself, and she should be free to do what she deems
necessary for her body and overall health in any situation. Abortion is an
overall a very safe procedure. Less than 1% of abortions performed before 21
weeks of pregnancy result in major complications such as heavy bleeding or
infection. If abortion is made illegal, surely many women will continue to seek
them in secrecy and likely sacrifice sanitary conditions and professional care;
illegitimate abortions have caused thousands of women to die throughout history
all over the world.

CONCLUSION:-The
US Supreme Court has declared abortion to be a fundamental right guaranteed by
the US constitution, the reproductive choice empowers women by giving them
control over their own bodies. Personhood begins after a foetus becomes
viable(able to survive outside the womb) or after birth not at conception. The foetuses
are incapable of feeling pain when most abortions are performed. Access to
legal professionally performed abortions reduces maternal injury and death
caused by unsafe illegal abortions. Modern abortions procedures are safe and do
not causes lasting health issues such as cancer and infertility. Women who
receive abortions are less likely to suffer mental health problems than women
denied abortions. Abortions gives pregnant women the option to choose not to
bring foetuses with profound abnormalities to full term. Women who denied
abortions are more likely to become unemployed to be on public welfare to be
below the poverty line and to become victims. Reproductive choice protects
women from financial disadvantage. Therefore abortion is acceptable as it is
the choice of the mother and the father though especially the mother, and it
does no harm to the child but the egg.

REFLECTION: –

In reality, the justification of abortion
because of economic reasons is just heinous. Unfortunately, for many people,
this is the case. The mother/couple just do not have the financial stability to
raise a child on their own and they see abortion as a way out. Now while this
concluding paragraph may sound like I am for the pro-life side of abortion, I
am definitely for the pro-choice side of abortion from a depressive realist
mentality. Abortion is a terrible thing but people tend to do crazy things when
they are desperate. The sad truth is that the United States needs to keep
abortion legalized. If it was not for abortion being legalized, the amount of
“homemade” abortions would skyrocket, along with that, the number of accidental
deaths from performing these abortions incorrectly. I wish abortion did not
exist but it needs to, in an almost ironic way, in order to save lives.
